Recognize then Re-Mind Yourself!

Picture
 Re-Mind Yourself!...into a better feeling state.

Thoughts and habits don't just happen.  Thoughts are triggered by the vast amount of information we take in at any given moment.  The subconscious mind is even faster than Goggle at finding matches to stored perceptions and habits and displaying them (acting on them) instantly.  Most of the reaction to any input occurs without passing through the conscious (rational and logical) level of the mind.  As long as your reaction-strategy is working there's no need for a change.  But when the results of your actions are no longer beneficial you can simply re-mind yourself for a change.

On those days when your thoughts turn negative:
  • the toothpaste falls off the toothbrush before you get it to your mouth
  • a few minutes later you spill your coffee and splash it on your clothes
The triggers can start one to think thoughts like:  "Wow is the whole day going to be like this?" or worse, "I'm so stupid!"  And you haven't even left the house yet.

The good news is...We always get to choose what we think!

When one thought leaves you tensed up with anger and the other thought leaves you feeling pretty good about yourself it's time to
re-mind yourself by changing the way you look at something.

                                           Recognize-Remind

  1. RE-Cognize:  When you notice a thought, habit, behavior, or reaction is no longer working to your satisfaction     Re-Cognize the thought in your mind.  Be curious about what thought would make you feel better and place focus your attention there.                                                                                                                                                                            It took dedication to change my road rage into peace and relaxation but I did it.  Now, if I notice an anger response....I laugh and congratulate myself on my exceptional reflexes. Now, instead of being "out to get me" the other driver is simply giving me a pop quiz.  I don't particularly like quizzes but I passed!!  And that makes me feel good so it's a far better thought for me to have than unrequited anger at a mystery driver.
  2. Re-Mind: Begin thinking your better-thinking thought and embellish it as much as you can imagine.                  Back to the traffic metaphor--I focus attention on passing the 'reflex pop quiz' and begin to appreciate my strong mind.  I can begin to feel pride and as I notice myself thinking better thoughts I notice how good I feel and how the pride makes me sit up a little straighter...smile a little broader...........you get the idea.

They say laughter is the best medicine and I think it's the easiest way to learn.  If you can handle some strong language, you can  experience a laugh with an epiphany from Comedian Louis CK on an HBO Special.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8062QEFk5g   It's an interesting view of how we CAN choose to think a different thought.

When you want to make a change... Re-Mind Yourself!   Re-Vision your future:
  • Start each day before you get out of bed with 5-minutes of RE-VISIONING
  • Fantasize in as much detail as possible what you want
  • As fully as possible imagine you already have it
  • Notice what you see, feel, hear, smell, taste
  • Notice how and where you feel it in your body; the look on your face
  • Notice what having it makes you think and feel
  • Now, start your day with that empowerment and allow your subconscious mind to work out the details.

You may not reach your goal today.  But when you start each day Re-Visioning your future as you intend it to be, the changes will occur organically often even without conscious awareness.  Re-Mind Yourself! to be grateful for all positive movement along the way.  Success breeds success.
